Images of Jesus Are Burned Into Our Hearts

In our home we have many images of Jesus: "The Last Supper," praying in the garden, knocking at the door - these are some of the most well known pictures of Jesus, recognizable regardless of your spiritual position throughout most of the world. If you see a photograph of a man with long hair, mustache and beard - surrounded by children, it is practically an instantaneous recognition of Jesus. The compassion expressed by these images of Jesus is universally understood.

Though there are debates as to either Jesus was truly the Son of God or simply a prophet, there is no doubt that He was a very special human among us. While his three year ministry, he finished more toward love and acceptance of people where they are in life than others finished in a full lifetime.

The story of His assisting the woman at the well who was a Samaritan carries much more in meaning than simply His gift aid. Samaritans were not worthy of any attention While this time, they were well below the status of the Jews. He stepped outside the box and the boundaries of tradition by speaking to her and helping her. We can all learn something about honest love and forgiveness from these stories of Jesus helping others.
